Whorl of the Depths: This is the magicka set from the new trial. It is tricky to use for melee-based classes like the Dragonknight, since the AOE doesn't move with you. Mantle of Siroria: Currently, this is the strongest of the three big magicka trial sets. If you have sustain issues, you could try one piece Chokethorn. Use one piece Slimecraw for the critical bonus. No complete monster set due to the use of the Kilt. That being said you'll probably still get your 70k or so DPS with Alcasts setups, which is enough for most content.Welcome to my magknight DPS build! It's a work in progress, but I hope you find it helpful. Alcast got some that are easier to learn and use and can be a good base to start at, but aren't quite as effective in the long run. I can sadly not really recommend any builds, but usually Skinny Cheeks, Deltias, Dottz, etc. So it's pretty convenient to just cast it from your back bar, change back and do your thing. Same with twohanded, the DoT will continue to deal damage after the weapon swap. So when I cast my unstable wall with my backbar and swap, I will still get my bonus damage on my front bar. The thing with the Maelstrom weapons is, that the bonus works on your front bar. I would recommend one of your five piece sets as a weapon option on your front bar.įor example, I'm currently wearing Relequen as a five piece body set and Advancing Yokeda as jewelry and weapons on my front bar, as well as the Maelstrom staff on my back bar. The wall of fire damage is significant enough to use a fire staff on the back bar over the lightning staff.īack bar. I tried a double lighting staff setup, but found that having a fire staff on my back bar is marginally better than the lightning staff. When parsing, this setup is marginally better than using double fire staves. ![]() For this particular build, I estimate about 70% of my damage is AoE, so it will take better advantage of the lightning staff's AoE bonus than the fire staff's single target damage. I do have a mag necro build that uses a lightning staff on the front bar and fire staff on the back bar. As a majority of your damage is going to be single target, you will get more out of the fire staff's bonus to single target damage than you would out of the lightning staff's AoE damage bonus. I find the Familiar's damage output is half and half between auto attacks and activated AoE. Only the Familiar's activated ability deals AoE damage. The Volatile Familiar will do single target damage with its auto attacks. If you use pets, the Tormentor does single target damage. The mag sorc will generally use Elemental Weapon, Force Pulse or Crystal Fragments as their spammable which will account for a significant portion of your damage as well. All of your light attacks are single target and that generally accounts for about 15% of my damage output. Also, most of your damage is likely going to be single target. You need to cause enemies to burn, so you would be using fire staves to get that effect. Generally, the Unstable Wall of Fire will deal more damage than the lightning version. The meta for staves is to use fire staves. Rule violators will be warned and/or subsequently removed at the discretion of the moderation team.
